My appologies for not writing sooner. You would think that one would have time to breathe and take time out for themselves in college...apprently not.
Anyway, This is one more picture from my Surreal Portrait assignment. I thought I would illustrate the surreal moment of a first kiss. That glimpse of time where it's just you and that other person, and you're not quite sure how to feel. You're so happy that you're finally kissing, and then at the same time so terrified that you're getting yourself into something that you can't turn back from, and you don't know what's going to happen next. That magical moment where everything around you disappears and nothing matters anymore.
I thought that Spiderman and Mary-Jane's first kiss would be the best way to show that. Not only was it one of Hollywood's most famous on screen kisses. I wanted to play off the fact that when a girl likes someone he is her superhero. She knows that she can trust him, and that he can save her from anything. I think it's so great because for Mary-Jane, the person who she loves (and who loves her back!) is an actual superhero. He's also a celebrity....How often does any girl get to live that dream where the celebirty she has a crush on actually loves her back? Can you image the thoughts, or lack thereof after a kiss like that?! Talk about a dream come true.
It really wasn't that difficult to get the final picture. I felt bad for my Spiderman model though...he was hanging upside down from under my deck, and his legs were killing him. It didn't help that the blood was rushing to his head. But he did help me with a couple of the angles and how to get the final image. Thanks Spiderman! I also made it hard to color balance by using both daylight and tungsten light. I'm glad the final image didn't have to be in color. All in all, I hardly had to to much Photoshop work to the image. I got the photograph that I was looking for!
